Is Cala right for your home?
Cala is designed to work in most homes, but there are a few things to check before you reserve. Here’s how to know if it’s a good fit for your space and setup.
1. SPACE & CLEARANCE
Cala is 24 inches in diameter and 67 inches tall. It needs:
- 34 inches x 34 inches of floor space (includes 10 inches of air outlet clearance)
- 77 inches of height clearance (includes 10 inches of air inlet clearance)
- 700 cubic feet of room volume; rooms below this size may require ducting
- A flat, indoor location like a basement, garage, or utility room
- Access to nearby drainage or a condensate pump
2. HOT WATER CAPACITY
Cala’s 65-gallon tank is designed to meet the needs of households with up to 5 people.
3. NOISE & AIR CIRCULATION
Cala produces cool, dry air and runs at 49–52 dBA—similar to the sound of a refrigerator. You can set quiet hours to avoid certain times of day, but Cala will still need to run regularly. It’s best placed in a space where airflow is welcome and occasional noise won’t be disruptive.
4. ELECTRICAL
Cala requires a 240V, 30 amp double pole breaker. If you're replacing an electric water heater, the existing circuit most likely suffices. If you're replacing a fossil fuel water heater, you may need a to add a circuit, which is straightforward in most, but not all, homes. Consult a licensed professional if you're unsure of your setup.
